Using your own custom domain allows you to increase the branding of your show. The domain will be used across your blog, permalinks, rss feeds, and so on. This article will detail how to setup a custom domain in your Libsyn account.
Note: If you are using your domain on a website out of Libsyn and want to maintain that site, you cannot use that domain with Libsyn. A domain can only ever point to one website at a time. There are other options, such as subdomains, which are available. Contact Libsyn Support for assistance if you are unsure, or wish instead to use a subdomain.
Log into your Libsyn account and go to your show settings using the
button on your main menu. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page which offers the custom domain configuration.
Note: Custom domains incur a $2 per month fee which is added to your monthly bill.
Hit the Edit Custom Domains button which will open the custom domains page.
Hit the Add New button. Note that the domain must already be properly registered through a domain registrar first.
Enter your domain name. Do not add the ‘http://’ or the ‘www’. Our system will handle that automatically for you. With the domain entered, hit the Save Custom Domain button. The system will confirm that your domain has been added to your show and you should receive a receipt for the prorated payment of the $2 monthly fee.
At this point, contact Libsyn Support to complete the configuration. They will provide you with your name servers (or DNS records if you are using a subdomain).
Note: Even if you know the name servers, you *must* still contact support as the domain gets manually configured on the server.
