As Google Play Music continues to make its move into Google Podcasts, Libsyn is preparing Libsyn customers for as smooth a transition as possible, automatically.
Libsyn already fully supports listing shows in Google Podcasts (which currently doesn’t have a direct submission process). Full details can be found here.
If you have also already submitted your show to Google Play Music, Libsyn will automatically redirect your GPM feed to your traditional RSS feed used by Google Podcasts. This is to help ensure your Google Podcasts listing continues to work properly, and will help prevent having a double listing in Google Podcasts as the two catalogs merge together.
Here are some answers to some questions you may have.
What action do I need to take?
None! Libsyn is handling this automatically for you. We would recommend, however; double checking Google Podcasts (see the linked to tutorial above) to make sure your show is listed. If it is not and you require assistance, please reach out to our support team at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
What should I tell my audience?
We would encourage you to speak with your audience and recommend they begin moving towards Google Podcasts for listening, rather than Google Play Music (if they haven’t already).
Can I add new Google Play Music destinations in Libsyn?
No, as Google Play Music hasn’t been accepting new submissions and Libsyn will be redirecting feeds that already exist as appropriate, there is no need to add new Google Play Music destinations going forward so that functionality will be disabled.
I have other questions. How do I get more help with this?
If you have any additional questions related to your show and the moves between Google Play Music and Google Podcasts, please reach out to email@example.com.
