The feed sync is an option we provide producers to pull metadata and media files from a third party RSS feed. The most common use for a feed sync would be to migrate content from a prior host to Libsyn. However, some producers post their episodes or content at another location and wish to have it duplicated in our system. This is where the feed sync comes in.
The feed sync functionality is found under Show Settings . At the bottom of the page is a check box to turn on Feed Sync, check this box:
Once the options expand out, the first thing you will be asked for is the source RSS feed.
STOP! NOTE! Do not enter your Libsyn RSS feed in this field at any time. This will break your show, as you cannot sync your Libsyn feed with itself. This should only be used for third party feeds.
You have two additional check boxes on this page:
Ignore Changes to Show Metadata
Leaving this unchecked will update your show title, show description, show artwork, and other show wide metadata. If you only want to sync episode content, check this box.
Delete Items Not Found in Feed
Leaving this unchecked will only pull the content found in the source feed, leaving episodes you already posted inside Libsyn in tact. If you check this box, all episodes found in Libsyn that is not in the source feed will be deleted, only episodes being pulled from the source feed will exist in our system.
Once you have your details entered, be sure to hit the button. Once your settings are saved, our system will begin pulling content. Note it can take a few minutes for the first attempt at pulling content to begin. How fast the sync operates depends on the speed of the server we pull from, as well as how many items exist in a feed, so be patient.
